Better Bites in Boston: Boston Globe Annual Restaurant Issue Coming Out

The Boston Globe Magazine publishes its annual restaurant issue this Sunday, July 16 as part of the Sunday edition of the Boston Globe.
This year's issue features a cover story entitled "20 for $20." Student chefs from the region's culinary schools will dish their opinions on where they go for cheap eats when money's tight.

To celebrate the issue's release, the Boston Globe Magazine, in conjunction with Whole Foods, will host a "Cook-Off," a cooking competition judged by three of the area's top chefs and restaurateurs in which top culinary students from greater Boston will battle in a heated competition for culinary bragging rights as well as a $5,000 culinary school scholarship.

On Thursday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Boston University Culinary School, the Boston Globe Magazine will host the first-ever "Boston Globe Cook-Off" to showcase the talent of local culinary students. Each participant will have the task of creating an original pizza from scratch using ingredients supplied by event sponsor Whole Foods. The original creations will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges which includes chef Marc Orfaly of Marco and Pigalle restaurants, chef Pino Maffeo of Restaurant L and Barbara Lynch, owner of B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop and No. 9 Park.

The winning chef will receive a $5,000 culinary school scholarship courtesy of Whole Foods.
